About the research

The survey, commissioned by NTT Communications in partnership with Dell EMC, took place in November and early December 2017 and was carried out by IT research and advisory firm 451 Research. It polled over 1,500 CIOs and enterprise IT managers of large enterprises with two-thirds having annual revenues greater than USD$1 billion from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. All businesses were in the private sector and had well over 1,000 employees, with respondents from sectors including financial services and insurance, manufacturing, retail, professional services, and the distribution and logistics industries.

The report based on this research shines light on the key discussions that IT managers and CIOs are experiencing in the real world, quantifying the complexity and bringing difficult discussions to the surface. Legacy systems, unclear future technology choices and security and compliance régimes all point to the absolute need for a realistic mature approach to such deployments with clear deliverable business benefits.
